CHVRCHES, Deftones, HUM & more — all at Dia De Los Deftones

In the spirit of Dia De Los Deftones, we dispatched our San Diego chapter Gavin Thomson and Clint Chindra to cover the event presenting a gallery of HUM, CHVRCHES and of course Deftones and more.

In Gavin Thomson’s own words:

Dia de los Deftones is a yearly money grab festival put on by the Deftones that takes place in San Diego, Califronia. I think one of them lives there now. Who knows? Maybe they’re Padres fans, the new uniforms are legit.

There was so much going on we could only get pictures of what we got. Oh and a list because I have no idea what I’m doing:

• Lil Robbie Butler of Topshelf Records and Danny Tanner. Shout out to JP from the Locust who was in attendance last year during Rocket from the Crypt.

Best food at the festival

• Barrio Dog (¡for the barrio, from the barrio!)

Word of the day

• “Sacto”

Best beverage at the festival

• Dilly Dilly tall boys (we love Bud Light, give us free Bud Light).

Coolest thing I saw at the festival

• Sarah Taylor of Youth Code smoking a heater at the park during the Deftones’ set.

Reason I came

• Hum! Just look at that rig.

• My friend that’s a dad said, ‘I bet they were super loud, a beautiful creamy thick wall of distortion.’
