VIDEO | Babylove, "Why Don't We"
As we close out 2019 and welcome 2020; we introduce you to the new rising Baltimore duo Babylove, comprised of the creative couple Joshua Stokes and Maxi Adelstein. Sending us news of their upcoming EP debut arriving later this winter, the two share a look at the self-made visual for the romantic ballad “Why Don’t We” that finds them enjoying greenhouse dalliances, sleeping in to strolling around anywhere and everywhere they want to go.
Babylove conclude the chaos of 2019 with a hopeful note for the new year full of affection, love, light, care and beauty unbound. Josh and Maxi take the audience along with them on an intimate couples outing, taking in the beauty of holiday season decorations, local sightings of natural splendor, gardens, greeneries, to subways and bustling street scenes. Every note, rhythmic foot and harmonic note sung from the duet resonates in an abundant feeling of love and warmth that offers an ineffable added glow to our current wintry solstice. The visuals span from Bmore to NYC as the modern love song lullaby gently rocks like an airship set to take flight anywhere the heart desires—set to sail on wings of wondrous love. "Why Don't We" is a song for both lovers and the lonely at heart; serving as an important reminder of the unlimited powers of combined forces and the infinite possibilities that await when opening up to levels of empathy greater than yourself alone. Babylove revel in that mysterious joy and beauty of discovery and realization, singing in sublime tones that assuage the turbulence and tumult all around them in a world that belongs to just the two of them. That magic can be found in Joshua's softly and sentimentally spoken lyrics of; I made a wish, it came true and it was granted in the shape of you.
Babylove’s Joshua Stokes shared the following introductory insights on their new inspired musical outfit:
Love and revolution is what this song is about. They both can stem from the same place. We experience feeling in love in many forms, why not write about it?
Maxi had an initial track and idea with some lyrics and I laid more lyrics, harmonies and we both created the vibe for the song and EP. Our collaboration was a result of our love and we combined our skills to produce the music (Josh) and piece together the video (Maxi).
Writing from the heart and a place of love is an act of vulnerability and sensitivity, and was not easy to expose initially. We appreciate and value the positive feedback so far from this new project and are excited to showcase our EP this winter!
The debut Babylove EP will be arriving in early 2020.
