VIDEO PREMIERE | Micah E. Wood, "Too High"

Lord of the lavish vintage varieties and more — Micah E. Wood; photographed by Lauren Castellana.

Champion of the musical, visual and all things Baltimore community arts artist Micah E. Wood further elevates our collective spirit further with the video for "Too High", directed by local drag personality Betty O'Hellno. Featured off the You Are Here EP; Wood interjects further sensational 70s sensibilities to the decidedly disco direction revolving around a Drag Queen roller-skating competition. This is not your square grandparents' typical Xanadu or ABBA-odyssey but an updated vision of the polyester era through a dream machine lens captured in high def. Starring the talents of Baby, Kayden Amore Chloe, Evon Dior Michelle and Morgan Spaner in a quest for glimmering dominance — filmed under COVID-19 restrictions / guidelines last November at Skateland Putty Hill.

Micah E. Wood takes the audience into a retro-styled mid-winter night's fashion feud. Amid the shining and shimmering glow of vintage lights ignited by a technicolor luster; the Queens roll out with attitude, pizzazz and a whole lotta chutzpah as Micah plays the role of a dream wandering judge holding court in a suave citadel of sequin saturated chic. Stunning in the blaze of burning electric auras; Baby slays with old school red carpet revelry, Kayden crushes in golden silk bathed ballroom couture, as Evon basks in a rouge sapphire ensemble from auburn wavy locks to shredded diamond glittering garb. Micah's electro love song about the importance of having kindred company whilst experiencing heightened states of experience sees a local rink turned into an exquisite runway fashion house for both friends and formidable opponents alike.

Micah took the time to share some reflections on the inception of the both the visual and song:

This new video is a fever dream one that I’m sure we all have had; you wake up in a roller-skating rink and realize someone put you in charge of judging a Drag Queen skate-off. We’ve all been there.

This song is about falling in love; it’s about that feeling a few dates into a relationship when you see your partner around your friends, and it clicks that this is your person. There isn’t anyone in the world you’d want to or feel safe being this high around; that is love!
