Last May we had the pleasure and privilege of introducing the Southern California sensation Sweet Nobody to the world. We basked and danced in the shimmering melancholic midday light cast by the tragic majesty of “Not a Good Judge”, the fierce conflicts of compatibility on "Why Don't You Break My Heart", the rip roaring rocker of "Rhoda", the catchy journal dramady of "Five Star Diary", to the painful throes of amour and youthful angst on “Young in Love”. A group that convey the glazed over haze of the "Million Yard Stare", the conditions that abound about our collective mortal coils on "Other Humans", the raucous roar against the rage of deceit of "White Lies", the surreal specters that haunt on "Little Ghost", pondering the life and death continuum with the heart ripping "If I Should Die Tonight" to the calm quaking serenity break of glorious clamor on the bonus cut "Disturbance".

Announcing a limited cassette release of We’re Trying Our Best via Relief Map Records, Sweet Nobody’s Joy Deyo, their partner Brian Dishon, Casey Snyder and Adam Nolan present an exclusive debut of the catchy and cool starlit sparkler “Yellow Rose“. Included as one of the bright bonus tracks featured off the album, it further immerses the listener into the interstellar constellations of the group’s cool vacuum tube bulb glow tone galaxy. Gathering limitless likenesses and pop notes from the modernist canons of artful crooners and old school hip collectives; Sweet Nobody carries forward with a sincere swagger and style as part of the new cult pop gentry.

“Yellow Rose” skewers mercilessly the fickle and phony nature of fake people. Dressed up in the aesthetic garb of the bandstand stages from a vintage golden era, Joy lyrically shuts down the people that have anything but truthful intentions in a clever update of the classic put down song. Like watching a black and white scene from a nouvelle vague flick delivered with the ferocity and fancy of a b-side off a big hit 45; “Rose” bops in a rhythmically memorable fashion that firmly establishes boundaries between those that are dubious and suspect. Sweet Nobody demonstrates the noble art of exercising an assured sort of confidence in a song that rings with the guitar bells of self-esteem and strong willed confidence that eschews those that only waste time, energy, emotion and heart with their foolish games.

Joy Deyo of Sweet Nobody provided the following reflections on the inception behind the track “Yellow Rose”:

I heard a story about a guy who stole his buddy’s girlfriend, despite the fact that he was the one that set them up in the first place. It got me thinking about the things that go unsaid and the mess it turns into—about the people we think we know best and who they really turn out to be. I think the lesson isn’t that we should have been able to tell all along that someone was really a snake underneath it all. I think the lesson is that sometimes you believe the best in someone and they let you down. We don’t have to beat ourselves up for not knowing. We can learn from it and move on.

Sweet Nobody’s album We’re Trying Our Best will be available soon via Relief Map Records.
