PREMIERE | Hospital Corner, "Waiting For Me"

Life's uncertainty is a spinning compass that is cause for confusion, caution and the endless modes of questioning ourselves. The paths we chose, the roads we tread upon and more prompt self-examinations of where we are. What we want. What we need. Where we want to be. Who we want to be. More often than not these realizations arrive when we take a proverbial leap of faith or blindly select a route with an obfuscated destination that proves to show us more than we could ever have hoped to glean about our own goals, dreams and desires. Uncertainty is us. It is the order of our everyday, every night, every waking hour and can be a source of intrigue and interest beyond the pale of ambivalence and the histrionic throes of anxiety.

Wrestling with these quandaries is Christopher Finn of Hospital Corner who unveils the main stage styles of "Waiting For Me", an ode to believing in yourself amid the fog of delusion and destitution alike. Featured off the forthcoming Speaking New Languages EP for In Black Records, Finn employs the aesthetics of heartland hymns in orchestrating a song for everyday people. It’s a song for those working the nine to fives that are sick of it all and looking for a better station in life. For those putting in time at the graveyard shift to keep the processes of life's logistics working in step to the rhythms of supplies and ceaseless demands. A song for the unemployed and disillusioned. The downhearted. The inspired. The defeated. The work from home crowd that are unsure of their own stability, both personally and career-wise. For everyone that has yet to figure it out, bringing a reminder of perpetual growth in the face of the universe's limitless shifts and challenges aplenty.

Hospital Corner’s “Waiting For Me” embraces the spirit and semblance of the self as a work in progress for perpetuity. Through the deluge of endless nights and soul crushing days, Finn offers up an anthem that hoists up a mode of confidence that rises above the lowlands of self-doubt. The message of renewal rings out loud, a klaxon of personal truths that gets up from being knocked down with the strength to keep on keeping on along the dusty highways en route to who knows where. Even if the elusive finish line is in question, Chris delivers a reminder of appreciation for everything that has made us the individuals we are today in a song that celebrates progress in the face of all the growing pains that we endure. “Waiting For Me” is a testimony to investing in the self, a reminder to be there for yourself — just as the many who have supported (and continue to support) you along the way.

Christopher Finn provided some insights on the single “Waiting For Me”:

It was written during a state of flux, where one door was thankfully closing but was another one opening? Or was I taking a sledgehammer to a wall? The themes of fear, overthinking, being left behind and being unable to change at the right moments runs through a lot of the music I write.

Hospital Corner’s “Waiting For Me” will be available everywhere February 22 via In Black Records.

The Speaking New Languages EP will be available TBD.
