Increasingly over the years, the stylistic cycle of pop cultural trends have increasingly edified the tunesmith and troubadours of heart. Beyond the overtures of grand orchestrated production gestures and postures, cold electronic fused obsessions and other aesthetic vanity conceits; the creative movement has returned to the ripped journal pages of the DIY constructive credo. While there is a limitless fascination and awe in elaborate arrangements, the kinetic and canned rhythm and key cuts and more; many artists have returned to their roots. Forsaking the fashions and fads that rotate in and of vogue like a carnival carousel, the artists of the current era concern their craft with expressing new narratives. Candid vibes. Feelings articulated through lyrical anecdotes. Interpersonal dynamics and other assorted idiosyncrasies exhibited through ultra honest expressions, minimalist melodies and emotive harmonies. These arts paint the portraits of where we are. Who we are. Dedications to the people we know and love in our lives. Notes on observed changes. Expressions of deeper care, longings, concerns and all the things that both connect and conflict us through the sidewinding highways of life in motion.

Heralding from Montreal is the ascent of dee holt who contributes to the modern day new chamber pop pastoral canon. On the heels of recent singles “Drive Around”, “Olivia” and a plethora of buzz on the socials; dee presents the debut of “Nobody Like You” with the visual from fredcl [aka Frédéric Carle-Landry]. Daphné Holt's collaborations with Benji Nadeau distill the character of pop novellas into concise and catchy compositions. “Nobody” tells the story of star crossed lovers living at different levels, different desires, different perspectives, dealing with jumbled feelings and caution illustrated in the crafty and cutting chorus refrain. Holt sets the stage with a tale of a summer love that gets messy, jumbled up and tangled in mixed emotions that rumble and rock like a seasonal fling that chases the sun into the autumnal golden leaf rains of fall wind change. The track entertains the sports of amour and the games people play with other folks' infatuated hearts in a sentimental, smart and snarky sendup of off-kilter attractions. Intentions and affections becomes opaque, suspect and clandestine in a song that dee holt dresses up like a romantic farce about fiercely attached lovers approaching a relationship from two disparate angles.

The video directed by Frédéric Carle-Landry features dee holt lounging about an estate of delights and gifts. From thoughtful cards, flowers, fresh baked cookies, wine, hidden notes and coded invitations; dee brings a headstrong sense of humor and joy in their disjointed dialogue. Efforts by holt's offscreen suitor are laughed off, as the red vino and cookies are enjoyed, notes ripped up as dee picks apart the floral petals like a game of loves me, loves me not. And while the artist insists that there is no one else like their maligned other, the texts from an unknown boy are ghosted in a viscous tournament of playing hard to get. “Nobody Like You” offers a cool and comical take on the curious card game of courtship that that explores the silly, sappy and sometimes selfish languages of human love and curiously suspect relationships.

Artist dee holt provided some privy insights on both the inspirations behind the new track and the making of the video:

In a way, this song is a warning. It's about a new love interest who seems to be head over heels and probably didn't have the same intentions as you. It's about a one-way relationship, knowing you're only playing games, but still going along with it and having fun while it lasts. In order to write this song, I really had to throw myself into a persona and push myself to create a character and pretend. I feel that this song really helped me break my mold as an artist and discover new sounds, new vibes and try new things. This song was super fun to record, write and turn into a music video. Filming it was definitely a challenge, especially because I'm not so used to being in front of a camera. However, I learned so many things! Such as what feels like me and my style, what I like, what I dislike, what I want to try and most of all, I learned to always bring a nice warm jacket when filming in a crop top in an unheated house in the middle of December.

Nobody Like You” will be available January 28 everywhere via Nettwerk Music Group.
