PREMIERE | Nasalrod, "Get a Life (Or a Coffin)"

Sometimes we find ourselves inundated with bad actors and suspect interlopers within our communities. Nothing and no one is perfect, yet we are all trying to move toward a higher state of consciousness. Sometimes some folks can bring us down, rife with toxicity, a vampiric energy that exhausts our most kind and vulnerable sensitivities. Sometimes its nothing personal but we have to be assertive and tell someone exactly what subway stop they can get off on. While these confrontations can be daunting, one must always stand up for themselves and speak their truth in the faces of wanton thoughtlessness. Sometimes you have to be the one to tell someone to jog off, get on with it, get a life, get lost, get gone, go anywhere else where they can do minimal harm.

This is the anthemic vibe from Portland, Oregon's Nasalrod who present the raucous and radically defiant debut "Get a Life (Or a Coffin)" off their upcoming split with Bay Area institution Victims Family titled Victims Family & Nasalrod in the Modern Meatspace via Nadine Records. Lead by lead singer Chairman, joined by legend percussionist Spit Stix of FEAR, Mandy Morgan on bass and Mustin Douch on guitar; the four bring a bevy of brash bravado to ward off the decidedly lackluster hangers-on.

The PDX purveyors of all things punk and proper kick out the jams and some arse with “Get a Life”. Nasalrod revives the gusto of your favorite dive bar derelicts and delinquent jukebox jesters. The ornery four go for the arena rock aorta with a party crashing cavalcade of confidence and cavalier fancy like a quartet of swashbucklers making a musical mutiny on stage. It’s a classic case of anarchy in the USA, operating on the notions that never mind the bollocks and bluster from the merchants of misery and misinformation that stand in the way of progress. Nasalrod answers the incessant noises of ceaseless annoyances with a louder reckoning of full on power chord punk, pomp, pop and circumstances. “Get a Life” is the rollicking response to those that work to tear others down in a time where we should be building one another up to create kinder and more constructive communities.

Most of us have had the unfortunate experience of being taken advantage of in a friendship (often without realizing it at first). This song is about cutting ties with all the exploiters and control freaks out there. It's also a half-serious kiss-off to all the emboldened assholes that seem to continually crop up in our current climate.
