Presenting the latest offerings from the forthcoming album Plotting Revolutions, Berlin by way of Athens, Greece global pop star Sarah P. shares the world debut of the singles "Athena" along with "The Poem of a Clear Conscience". In tow with our previous premiere of “Laying Low” & “She” — Sarah sings songs of experience, songs of hope, songs of caution, songs of concern and songs that seek a universal harmony in the face of worldwide adversity under the civic auspices of international authoritarian fetishists. The latest track pairing reckons past reminisces of hometown familiars, civic and social shifts, upheavals, strangeness and unrest with a bright chance of hope, a greater inclusive consciousness and a restoration of beauty and love.

“Athena” is a song I wrote about Athens while I was still living in Berlin and reluctant to resettle in my hometown. Many things have changed since then, but not my complicated relationship with the city I love to call my old/new home. Music-wise, I continue exploring the disco elements and the more organic sound of my Maenads EP, adding a sturdy rhythm section and floating synths & vocals that well-represent the paradoxes of my city — the edginess and fragility of Athens and its people.” —Sarah P.

Sarah P. work increasingly depicts powerful and candid displays of diaspora, identity, cycles of disillusionment, expression and transcendence accompanied by evocative electro-woven eco-spheres. On both “Athena” and “Poem” you can feel the rising swell of inspired constructive and creative pro-action in defiance of our collective world's governance by way of totalitarian regimes and outdated, antiquated cycles of repeated wrongs. One moment eliciting the Grecian Goddess of War in a backdrop of tense rhythm rolling synths to the spirit lifting “Clear Conscience” where Sarah’s delivery and tones resemble exhilarated and breathless dashes in green groves beneath bright azure skies. “Athena” rumbles with the urgency of seeking love and sanity during tumultuous times (and devolved shifts) as “Conscience” races to catch a breath, sense of serenity and respite from the spin-cycle vertigo of living in the eye of the tempest. Sarah P. expresses pop art of sincere care for our world with messages of taking a stand, speaking up for others (and yourself) and taking strives toward self care to bring more goodness to ourselves, one another and our shared plane of existences.

Sarah P. introduces the new songs and more in the following candid reflections on histories, inspirations and aspirations:

I’m dearly holding on a moment captured so many moons ago. Watching the clouds passing by through a paddle of rainwater spoiled with benzene, thinking I could become whatever and whomever I wanted to be. Later on — teenage years, I’d secretly escape from sweet suburbia and off to the city center. Feeling edgy, as if I was owning this ancient city that I happened to come from. What I didn’t know yet was that Athens would birth my biggest hopes and fears. I’ve had the strangest experiences in Athens, I intensely fell in love on its streets and had the most dangerous encounters. But from a certain point and on, escaping to the city center wasn’t enough.

The sad years, the difficult years turned Athens (and me) bitter and angry — and it was time to leave, to go separate ways. At least for some time.

During my years living abroad, I became more and more introspective and observant. I nested, reflected and tried to speak (out) less than I did in the past. I created a protective bubble and hid in there.

Now that the streets look thirsty, the people look thirsty and tired. I’m hurriedly crossing the traffic lights — becoming one of the many, fading into the crowds. But for how long will we be chasing calm and composure — muting the sounds of destruction?
